Who We Are
President: Adam Roxby
Resident of Kimberley Street

Concerns: Husband, Parent (2 girls), Architect. Resident since 2002. I am concerned about the future of West Leederville and how it will evolve as greater demands are put on its infrastructure and housing density. I value the need to provide a balance between the older homes in the area and providing contemporary solutions to modern living that will enhance the streetscape. I also value the democratic process and look forward to healthy debate within the community (residents and Council) on many future issues. Hobbies: When Im not playing at husband, parent or Architect, I can be found watching the rugby, occasionally surfing or possibly indulging in my latest hobby - fishing (best catch so far - 8kg Dhufish). |

Fiona Hogg
Resident of Kimberley Street
Concerns: Having lived in West Leederville for almost 9 years and now with two small children I am committed to seeing West Leederville preserve its unique character, make the most of its central location and work together with residents and the local council to improve the sense of community. I would like to see a suburb that is designed around and for people not cars with more emphasis on safety and amenity for pedestrians/cyclists. Sustainability is an important part of my architectural practice and I am keen to see a sustainable approach to planning of our suburb and building design more generally - "Think globally, act locally" Hobbies: When not running after two little girls (1 and 3 years old respectively), practicing at being an architect and trying to keep up with house work we seem to renovate a lot...when have a spare hour or so swimming is pretty good therapy though. |
Peg Davies
Resident of Blencowe Street 23 years
|
Concerns: Interests include community gardens, public transport issues, city planning, young people and 'the walkability' of our area. Have been delivering one of the local rags for 15 years so have seen and talked to a lot of the suburb (including the dogs!). Hobbies: (Coming Soon) |
Kate Gaspar
Resident of McCourt Street
Concerns: have lived here for nearly 3 years. A Registered Nurse in a past life, I am now Mum to 3 boys aged 4, 2 and 8 months. We moved to West Leederville because of its proximity to Subiaco where my husband’s business is based and the great community feel and fantastic reputation of West Leederville Primary School. I am really keen to see the preservation of the open spaces and parks that West Leederville has, and to maintain “family friendly” streets. My concerns are for the increased amount of traffic seen particularly in my street and safety issues that are associated with that. Hobbies: Not too many hobbies to write about as I don’t get much time to do anything! Given the age of my children, I do enjoy a good glass of wine |
Michael Green
Resident of Kimberley Street
Concerns: Resident since 1992. Past West Leederville PS parent (2 girls). Work in the suburb. I believe that West Leederville, as an inner city suburb, will always be subject to development pressure. As a local architect I am keen to promote sustainable development that respects context and community. I love the location of West Leederville - excellent access to public transport, an easy walk to Subi, Leederville, the footy, and the lake. Close to the beach, the river and the city....and great people. I look forward to learning more about what makes West Leederville special for it's resident's and to contribute in whatever way I can to nurture and grow the character of the suburb. Hobbies: Family, friends, cooking, eating, swimming, the footy, drawing, travel, eating, wine, women and song............ |

Resident of Ruislip St.

Concerns: Lived in West Leederville for 12 years. I have 2 pre-school boys, the eldest is in Kindy at WLPS. This suburb has many attractions, including its streetscapes, parks, the school, and its closeness to the city and Subiaco. Over the last decade I've seen the pressure that development, and its associated traffic increases, has applied to the suburb. I'd like to see these issues managed responsibly and cooperatively, and believe the best way this can be achieved is for the suburb to be seen as a whole community, by the council and residents alike. This is particularly important with the challenge that the Oval redevelopment will bring to us all. Hobbies: Recently completed a Communications degree part time, while working full time, starting a family and helping my wife, Cheryl, run her business...what are hobbies? I'm a Freo member, but I don't seem to find this relaxing. |

Concerns: Continue the focus and assist in the areas such as traffic management and relationships within the community. Having grown up in West Leederville on Blencowe Street up until the age of 24 and still having family/friend ties living in area ,I have seen it change over my 45 years. Now I am a local business owner and assist the community in meeting point which intern reunites my past with the present and future. Hobbies: Some say I like to talk alot, I say Iam a good listener that's if you can get a word in. WHEN I HAVE TIME I like to do breakfast, exercise, lunch , gardening, dinner and listen to music, and if you have met me you would know I've drop the exercise. Iam a fantastic husband (I recon) and proud dad to 2 adult teen girls with drivers licenses, we are now at that stage where Iam not the friend Iam the DAD. Never the less Iam at a great time in my life. |
George Crisp
Resident of Kimberley Street

Concerns: I am most concerned about my kids future in a world that is facing very challenging and precarious times. As individuals our actions are can seem tokenistic, but collectively we can make a difference. On a more local perspective I am concerned about development, particularly the loss of native vegetation and green space. We are lucky to live in West Leederville and should strive to preserve its community and character. Hobbies: Playing in a band, linux, football ( SOCCER ), cycling to work, environmentalism and saving the planet in general. |
